Chris Barcelos, PhD
Chris Barcelos is an Assistant Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexualities Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where they are affiliated with the Critical Ethnic and Community Studies and Latino Studies programs. Dr. Barcelos is a humanistic social scientist whose work combines critical race theory and critical sexualities studies with community-based research. This research uses ethnographic, discursive, archival, and statistical methods to focus specifically on queer sexuality, transgender health, and reproductive justice. Dr. Barcelos is the author of Distributing Condoms and Hope: Race and Reproduction in Youth Sexual Health (University of California Press, 2020) and has published in journals including Gender & Society, Transgender Health, and Critical Public Health.
